Sally Hansen Salon Effects Aflorable (and my little friend)

This weekend I finally sat down to give myself a proper manicure and pedicure. I was only taking care of my cuticles as need be and my toes were looking dusty! So I decided to use one of my Sally Hansen Salon Effects that I've had for some time. This one is called Aflorable and I absolutely love it!!! These were  much easier to apply than other Salon Effects I have used in the past. Did I  already tell you that I love them?!

While Mr. NPT and I were out in the yard yesterday I found a grasshopper in the garage and I could help but marvel at his beauty. I know I'm weird. I don't like all insects believe me! Something about this grasshopper and maybe how he looked with my nails made me was to immortalize him in pics. So here he is:

Milani Key West with Confetti Tazmanian Devil

The last manicure I did lasted 1 whole day because I was so unhappy with the look. I decided to finally try the gradient glitter look which I've seen on so many blogs and loved but never tried it. I set out 4 different color combos and had Mr. NPT pick. and this is what he picked. First I want to show you Milani: Key West which is a gorgeous color on it's own. Easy to apply, great formula, 1 coat and amazing shimmer effect. It was a nightmare to take off though. Stained my nails like no body's business!

Add to that 3 coats of Confetti: Tazmanian Devil sponged on the tips and this is what you get:

It reminds me of an aquarium for some reason or a mermaid's tail. I love this look and it was so simple and easy to do. I will be doing way more of these this summer.

OPI Mod About You and Pure Ice Outrageous

I need to step up my stamping skills. I have some Bundle Monster plates that I purchased on Amazon but I'm not too thrilled with them... Well I shouldn't say that. I just don't think they have too many patterns that are so exciting. So i did this manicure and added subtle glitter dots which barely showed up. Over all I'm not too thrilled with how it turned out. Next time I'll pick a different design. Thoughts? Feelings?  Concerns?

OPI Mod About You (base color) was very chalky although I love this shade of pink, it was not easy to apply and Pure Ice: Outrageous is a great stamping color with a foil/frosty look. I like the colors together, but I don't like how the overall design came out. Suggestions for improvements are welcome.

Sticks N Stones - Cover Brand

Oh. My. Jesus! It's finally here! My very own bottle of Sticks N Stones by Cover Brand. What's the big deal you say? Well I'm not even going to explain my excitement when I saw this in the mail. I literally screamed with joy since this nail polish sells out so fast:

I can't say enough about the customer service on Ninja Polish I was spazzing out while making the order and I emailed Rhoni and she was right there responding to my  concerns via email. The package came within 5 days of when I placed my order.

My stupid camera doesn't capture the awesomeness but you get the point.

I love the touch of blue and green glitter. So subtle but it breaks up the black and white.
I couldn't wait to swatch this so I put it over my 4-day old mani. This is Rimmel Marine Blue as the base.

Here it's paired with Eva Powder Blue

Ruth's Nails - Guest Appearance

My coworker Ruth bites her nails, and her skin, and anything else that sticks out to annoy her on her hands. She has worn artificial nails in the past but ultimately for the past few years just neglected her nails. She was inspired by Nail Polish Therapy to begin taking care of her nails, so I gave her a mani to give her a kick start. We then went shopping for some polishes and essential nail care items. Now Ruth is addicted to nail polish blogs and anxious to start  practicing her skills on her mom and looking forward to doing her own nails as soon as this mani wears off. Therapy worked!

For this look on the base I used OPI-Teal the Cows Come Home, then for the design I used BM plate 224 with Milani-White on the Spot, dots were Milani-Yellow Whiz and Fast Fushia. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

April is Autism Awareness Month - Wear Blue!!

Some of you already know that April is the month of Autism Awareness and to honor those who live with Autism nail polish bloggers are wearing blue. I wanted to keep in the theme of Spring and so I did this simple mani with colors I haven't used yet. Since I have over 400 polishes now :).

The pointer nails are Julep-Blake with Revlon-Whimsical on top. The rest of the nails are Milani-Beachfront. My camera doesn't do justice to the Milani-Beachfront. It has a fine silver shimmer that is even spread through all the polish. I was impressed with the formula of Julep-Blake, but the color itself was nothing that wow'd me. I'm glad that I didn't purchase this. Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

Easter Mani

I didn't do anything special on Easter except go out to eat after work. We had all you can eat crabs at Cityfish in downtown Orlando. The night before I stayed up late coming up with an Easter mani and pedi combo. Sorry to say that  I didn't take pics of my toes but here is my simple rendition of a spring French Manicure.

I used the colors below, which came out so crappy in the picture. I seriously need a new camera.

Revlon Sunshine Sparkle, Essie Mint Candy Apple, Milani White on the Spot, Color Club with no color label :(, Essie Lilacism, Revlon Blue Lagoon.

IKEA Helmer

So many of the women in the nail polish blog community have their polishes stored in this wonderful, old-school, sturdy little metal filing cabinet called a Helmer. It's available at IKEA and retails for $40. It comes in red, white and gray and each container holds about 500 polishes. This is perfect for a growing nail polish therapist like me :) Here is my before storage system where I literally was pouring out of my boxes and bags with nail polish.

Here is my beautiful new Helmer and complimentary box (to hold my nail essential items other than nail polish)

My husband had the great idea to organize the drawers based on seasons for now. I don't always follow the season when it comes to what color to wear but I thought it was a great idea for me to see what I had most of. It looks like the Fall and Winter drawers are almost full. :-/

Here they are close up. All sizes of polishes fit perfectly. It's awesome and I wish I had this so much sooner.

Milani Sail Away, White on the Spot and Jiffy Orange

I have so many Milani polishes to swap thanks to the wonderful Milani kit I won at the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida meet. Here is the wonderful one-coater Sail Away. Wonderful is not the word for this polish....it's magnificent and I can't believe I'm using that word, but it is. The pigmented glitter is evenly spread throughout the polish. I was completely satisfied with one coat. It was not thick, and had great application. Very happy customer. Here it is:

This is just base coat and 1 coat of Milani Sail Away, no topcoat

Picture below is in artificial light and two pics above have flash.

I wanted to make a manicure in tribute to the NY Knicks. I'm a fan by association (my husband is the fanatic). So I used Milani White on the Spot and Jiffy Orange for the stripes and this is what I got:

Notice how gorgeous the Sail Away is under this natural light. I love it!

Right hand needs a little more practice :(
